Maharishi Vishwamitra’s Quest and Shri Ram Rise

One day, Maharishi Vishwamitra arrived at King Dasharatha’s palace. The king was very happy with their arrival and welcomed him with respect. King Dasharatha said to Maharishi Vishwamitra, Whatever you command, I will follow it fully; because you are a god for me as a householder due to being a respectable guest. Brahman! Today, with your arrival, I have received the great results of all my Dharm.This is the opportunity for my great rise.

Hearing these wonderful words of King Dasharatha, the mighty Vishwamitra was moved and speak in this way.

‘Man of excellence! I perform a rule (Yagya) for accomplishment. In it, two demons who can take any form are causing obstacles. Most of the work of this rule (Yagya) of mine has been completed. Now, at the time of its completion, those two demons have come. Their names are Marich and Subahu. They are both strong and educated.’

‘They have showered blood and flesh on my sacrificial altar. In this way, my hard work went in vain due to disruption in that almost finished rule (Yagya).’

I want you to send your truthful and brave eldest son Shri Ram with me. By remaining safe from me, he is capable of destroying those destructive demons with his divine brilliance.
‘Having received that credit, he will become famous in all three worlds. Coming in front of Shri Ram, both those demons could not stand’.

Worry of King Dasharatha for Shri Ram

Hearing these words of the brilliant Vishwamitra ji, King Dasharatha became worried because he loved Ram ji very much and fainted. King Dashrath said that Ram is only sixteen years old, how will he face those demons. If You want, I will take all my soldiers and come with you.

Hearing these words of King Dasharatha, Maharishi Vishwamitra became angry. He said that you of the Rakhuvanshi clan never go back on your word, the whole world praises your fidelity to your word. If you do not want to fulfil your promise, then I will leave the same way I came. The entire earth trembled with his anger.

Then Maharishi Vashishtha explained to King Dasharatha that nothing about the past or future is hidden from Maharishi Vishwamitra and hence he should let Shri Ram go with him. Maharishi himself is capable of killing those demons but he wants to do the welfare of your son. Thus King Dashrath ordered Shri Ram to go with Maharishi Vishwamitra.

Tadka Vadh

Sage Vishwamitra ji was going through Tadka forest taking Shri Ram and Lakshman with him when Tadka comes in front of him and asks to eat them. Vishwamitra ji tells Shri Ram about Tadka and orders him to kill her. There was a very fierce fight between Ram ji and Tadka. Shri Ram kills Tadka with his bow and arrow. Ram ji and Lakshman ji have killed both the demons (Marich and Subahu), Maharishi Vishwamitra’s yagya becomes successful.

Ram Sita Marriage

Maharishi Vishwamitra received an invitation from King Janak to come to Mithila in which he also took Shri Ram and Lakshman ji with him. There, on the orders of Maharishi Vishwamitra in Sita Swayamanvar, Ram ji strung the bow and at the same time the bow broke in the middle. Seeing this, King Janak was surprised and also very happy.

His Pledge was fulfilled and after fixing the marriage of Sita Mata with Ram Ji, he sent a message to Ayodhya on the orders of Maharishi Vishwamitra requesting him to come to Mithila and also conveyed the message of the marriage of Ram Ji and Sita Mata. Marriage between Shri Rama and Devi Sita in Mithila’s capital city, Janakpurdham.

According to the Bikram Samvat calendar, it is marked on the fifth day of the Shukla paksha, or waxing phase of the moon, in the months of Margashirsha and Agrahayana (November–December). In temples and holy sites connected to Ram ji… Such as the Mithila region of Nepal and Ayodhya in India and the day is celebrated as the Vivaha Utsava of Sita and Ram.
